Moon is a player-driven economic and social Metaverse. The entire lunar surface is represented by 126,000 virtual HEX land plots, each represented by an NFT. When our players land on the Moon, there will of course be no governments, borders, or countries.
Our players will be given the opportunity to establish, control, develop, and expand their HEXs into fully-functioning lunar communities. The value of a player’s NFT land can be increased by developing territory that is viable as an economic, political, and militaristic ‘Moon country’.
But what is a ‘Moon country’ and how would it be structured?
There are three essential components of governance in Moon. If all three can be developed alongside each other, it ensures our players have a good chance of creating a prosperous country for their Moon dwellers to call home.
The Military
This Military is made up of volunteers from the players of each specific country. The state provides the military with weaponry, which is paid for by the tax revenues generated within the country itself.
Fiscal Administration
Players can impose taxes and gather revenue for activities which are conducted in each country’s domain. Finances can be used for acquiring and selling land, maintaining the military and its weaponry, providing incentives for economic development, and if needed confiscating private property to ensure the security of the state. The government may also decide to create strategic food and natural resource stocks, in order to deal with potential supply constraints and to ensure that businesses can continue to operate uninterrupted.
Political Structure
Each Moon country will set up a political structure to govern with. It should reflect the values and objectives of those in power. Countries can choose from a broad range of political regimes, including liberal democracy, presidential democracy, and lunar monarchy.
A country’s political structure can be changed by holding a referendum which will require a majority vote of 50% +1 in order for it to be passed.
